An important part of chiropractic care and many other health services is diagnostics. In order to properly diagnose a patient, it is key to rely on certain tools and equipment to ensure we fully understand the extent of your injury, illness, or other concern.
In chiropractic care, X-rays are an important technology that allows us to view the skeletal system in-depth and see where your issue may be. Since chiropractic care uses spinal manipulation and other techniques involving skeletal components, an X-ray can show us exactly what is happening with your body's alignment and structure.
Some of the common cases where we use X-rays include if the patient:
- Sustained a significant traumatic injury (broken bones or joint dislocations)
- May have an infection causing the pain
- Is suspected of having a significant disease, such as cancer or a tumor
- Is suspected of any type of joint disease, such as arthritis
- Is over age 50 and has experienced any type of trauma (even a minor one)
- Is over 65 years of age
- Has been diagnosed with or may be at risk for osteoporosis
- Has any suspected spinal instability
- Has had long-standing pain that has not responded to previous treatment
If you believe you may need an X-ray or if you want a second opinion, call today and we can determine if an X-ray is necessary for you.
